I had the privilege of speaking at the American Rights to Work Tour yesterday evening. Thanks to Jobs with Justice (http://www.massjwj.net/) for thinking of the Kendall for this Teach-in. I was honored to be included and totally humbled by all the speakers who have to deal with far worse, in much more difficult jobs and risk way more than I ever did in order to make companies recognize their rights.
I was asked specifically to address management’s response to our union drive (hiring Labor Relations Solution [lrs2win.com] and flying in Landmark employees to tell us how great the company is, etc.).
One thing I can’t stress enough (and didn’t stress much last night as my public speaking skills are one step short of horrendous) is the amount of money Landmark wasted on a third party to come in and try to stop 19 people from voting in a union. I wish I knew how much money they spent and still ended up with a 17 to 1 vote. Think of how much two “No” votes would have cost!
Thanks to everyone who put together such a great event and thank you to all the speakers who participated!
Just wanted to know how everthing is coming? How is it at the work place? Is your contract done? If so did you get what you want? How long did it take to get the union stuff going, I mean from the moment you wanted to form a union to actualy getting voted in. What is going on with your wages? Just want to get some ideas.....thats all for now, need to go to work and we all know work is not fun.
