Dispossessed 20-year-old Bruno (Jérémie Renier) lives with his 18-year-old girlfriend Sonia (Déborah François) in a Belgian steel town. Their lives change forever when Sonia gives birth to their son. Unprepared to raise a child and in desperate need of money, Bruno sells the baby to a black market connection who promises to find an adoptive home. When Bruno realizes the error of his actions, he sets out to retrieve his son. Written and directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne (Rosetta, La Promesse). Winner of the Golden Palm Award at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

Director Paul McGuigan's (Gangster No. 1) comic thriller twists and turns its way through an underworld of crime and revenge where nothing is as it seems. A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) in the middle of a war plotted by two of New York City's most notorious rival crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to escape the maze alive. Settling into early middle age, three friends with money—Frannie (Joan Cusack), Jane (Frances McDormand) and Christine (Catherine Keener)—share a concern for Olivia (Jennifer Aniston), who seems unable to make a living or sustain a relationship, at least by their standards. Their group examination of her lack of options magnifies each of their own doubts about the marriages and careers to which they have committed themselves. A poignant, sometimes painfully hilarious examination of modern life, written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Lovely and Amazing, Walking and Talking). Original music by Rickie Lee Jones.

As their relationship slowly progresses, Tsotsi is forced to confront his violent nature and forgotten past. Infused with pumping, high-energy Kwaito music, writer/director Gavin Hood's film is an extraordinary portrait of the choices we make in life and the personal triumph that comes from choosing love over rage. Brokeback Mountain

Review:

Ladies, better keep a closer eye on your hubbies nowadays. Turns out they are just one movie away from trading heterosexual bliss for hot, sinful dude on dude action.

If you have never read film reviews on pluggedinonline.com, the Focus on the Family film review site, you are missing out. Check it out. They are informative and hilarious. Once you read the site you won't believe you ever went to the movies without an accurate f-word count!

This is from their review of Brokeback Mountian:

A tangential downside to the film is that it could have the effect of making wives suspicious of husbands who have good male friends. After watching this movie, old-fashioned male bonding exercises such as fishing, hunting and camping feel like nothing more than weak excuses for nefarious "hook ups."

And from another source, I think this line should just be pulled from the woman's letter and used as the tagline for the film...

"...it made my husband turn gay"

Trailer for "King Kong"

Review:

If any of you have ambled into the commercial theater houses recently, I am certain that you witnessed the trailer for "King Kong"; Peter Jackson's epic re-telling of the classic film starring Jack Black, Adrian Brody and Naomi Watts. Wow. At its conclusion, I uttered these words out loud (and I am very against talking during films, including previews): "'Twas CGI that killed the beast." Another unnecessary remake.. LoTR fans I am sure will fill seats when it is released. And good for him. I just wish Jackson would pander to those that found "Heavenly Creatures" and "Meet the Feebles" more interesting works.
